...I really don't see your point of changing the subject in the first part of this post. The point I was making- and which I still believe- is that some people attribute bad (and good) things to God having a plan. I find this to be rather narrow-minded and a poor way to go about life, since it often leads to people fucking up and then saying "well, that's how God wanted it" rather than taking responsibility and learning from their mistakes. This view is based on the fact that I know, personally, a number of people who do this.

And "the rest" of the post (you know, 80% of it) concerns astrology... I guess you could take the first few paragraphs and call it theology-related, but not the majority. What claims am I using that the Bible refutes? If you're going to take the time to make sweeping statements, at least give me some examples so I can see what you're on about.

Lastly, angry derision (ranting) and critical thinking do not have to be seperate matters. Every post here has a thesis that I could just as easily defend without the harsh language or thick sarcasm, but I *choose* to wrap it in a rant because to me it's entertaining. And that's why this site is here- not to provide any sort of academic "this is srs business!" presentation or to be polite- but for entertainment.

Allow me to demonstrate why you did not make a single actual argument here. An edited version of a portion of this rant:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Awhile back I decided I would go looking for some of the blogs from around here. Why? Sheer boredom and the expectancy of finding someone over 18 living around here with writing abilities. Can’t say there were too many results, but there didn’t need to be. The few I found were more than I could handle as they had this nasty tendency to look to one thing to solve their problems. And I quote:

“[you should] let yourself guide you instead of trying to let God guide you.”

Oh, grand idea! I have to work tomorrow, but I don’t want to. Hmm, maybe I should let myself decide for me. I would know best too, because I can see into the frickin’ future! I'm like a superhero! Maybe there’ll be a big fire that kills everybody at the store, and since I’m the most special-est person on the face of the earth, I’ll tell me “Hark! STAY HOME TODAY.”

----------------------------------------------------------

You can change the subject to whoever to make the same "argument" for whatever.

The rest either argues only against a really BAD understanding of theology or is a strawman based off of claims the Bible does not make, but rather, refutes.

It's been two years since you wrote this, I do hope you've gotten better at critical thinking (PROTIP: Angry derision isn't critical thinking by default.)

<em>“90% of retail food marketing is dependent on and/or affected by diligent and proper product shelf facing.” Burl Beefeater in American Grocer, vol 24, issue 3, May, 2005. Activities such as “product facing” have been known to enable their practioners to tap into a higher and deeper awareness of who they are, why they exist and why God holds the keys to the front door of every major supermarket in America."</em>

Trust me, facing does make you ponder your existence...

And don't you normally reserve lines of thought like that for around 3:00 am? :p

Most excellent. to quote myself, "religion is placebo." I think in the long run, people want to feel special, like God favors them because <strong>they're</strong> better than the heathens and frauds. It's pretty sick, really.

Mr unknown, I think you have good intentions. That being said, I don't think you are representing yourself very well. The National Enquirer says that Jesus saves too...

Nice site, Chris.

Hey,

You crack me up. I think you need to do some facing work at a grocery store. Proof - I'll give you proof - "90% of retail food marketing is dependent on and/or affected by diligent and proper product shelf facing." Burl Beefeater in American Grocer, vol 24, issue 3, May, 2005. Activities such as "product facing" have been known to enable their practioners to tap into a higher and deeper awareness of who they are, why they exist and why God holds the keys to the front door of every major supermarket in America. Yogi Beerra in Zen and the Art of Retail Food Marketing, 2003, Holt, Rinehart Inc, Rapid City, SD; p. 1,234. Let me know if you need additional research resources - I am full of it.
